The update took 30 mins to download, the reboot and install has taken 1 hour so far. Thought it was stuck at 37% but slowly moved through, now on 47% after one hour. Make sure you have a charged tablet!

Did you have to backup before you installed?

No back up just simply download and installed the update. All the apps appear to have vanished and a clean boot. Make sure you back up anything you want to keep. eg photos and videos

What's your model? Kies is saying no ics for me, that kk4 (vnz) is still the latest. Are you just winding us up? Hope not.

Finally it's here, I just upgraded an hour ago. Initial thoughts are positive, it seems more responsive.

Forget it. Look at mobiusnz`s post earlier in this thread. Just upgrade using the method in his link. Its easy as, I am not a sosphisticated / hacker level user.

Looks like a new tablet. I was really worried as I couldn't backup properly but all of my apps and files have come through it just fine.

Everything restores perfectly on the tablet after the 4.0 update. Just wait a bit. Lots smoother now, only your widgets will need redoing.

Hmmm maybe we'll have to wait a little longer for the GT-P7500

I have the wifi only version of the tab 10.1. Great update but little bit sad the video editor didn't come in the update.the video editor on the tab2 is just outstanding.
Hope your updates are coming through for the 3g tabs!

I just updated a friend's Tab 10.1 from HC.  It died at the end of the download (task not responding) but then it said the update was ready to install. Assuming that if it had died during the download and left a corrupt download checksums would have failed, I started the installation. As others have noted it hangs a bit around 37-40% which is worrying and then it sped up and finished.

Eventually it came up fine and all the apps were intact. The only thing we had to do was add widgets back to the front screen. My friend likes have  2x2 widgets for the browser that go to specific URL's but under ICS there does not appear to be a 2x2 widget for a shortcut so are using a 3x2 sized one.

ICS seems a bit faster than HC and it has the new font which is much nicer.

This is the first time I have updated a non GED devices. I have a Xoom and a GN and the Xoom upgrade from HC to ICS was a bit different in that it did not take as long (perhaps because there are no customisations to the ROM) and after the download completed it was just the open chest Android with the icon spinning around. Similarly when JB was applied it was reasonably quick and now with 4.1.2 it was very fast given that's a minor update.

Still my friend likes the ICS upgrade. He's getting used to the different way certain actions now work.
