Il watch pricing with interest on the Note 2.

Question for Note 2 owners... A feature on the iPhone thay I totally loved - being able to save ANY picture/photo by long pressing on it & it would save straight into the gallery.
Even if it was a pic on facebook, it'd still do it.

Most androids won't do this on a few 'certain' sites, and especially not on Facebook.

Does the Note 2 have this ability???

Please say it does!

I get around that by "sharing" the photo to Dropbox.

FWIW - I ended up buying the Samsung car dock (which is a generic unit aimed at the SGS3, Note and Note2). The build quality is better than most 3rd party ones (which is why I bought it, didn't want something too ugly).

But - It doesn't identify itself as a "dock" in any way, either via connector or NFC tag, so if you wanted that function, you'd need to DIY somehow. I've got CarHome Ultra setup to fire automatically when a connection to my bluetooth car stereo is detected which does the job. In order to charge the phone, you'll need a separate USB cable, I happened to have a 2A one left over from a previous Samsung device, so with a bit of cable-tucking, it's reasonably unobtrusive, given the battery life on the Note2, it's only needed on longer trips when I need to fire the GPS, or to charge it after a long call.

Dick Smith have the things for $60, not exactly cheap, but I bit the bullet for the build quality.

You can also save night any picture by "sharing" it to the picture editing app, then saving it from there.

The old Note II lives on. I have the N7105 LTE version (Nordic countries). It receives updates early, I got a sizeable (118MB) update two days ago, it still remains on Kitkat 4.4.2 but it's got me wondering this is either readying it for the fabled Lollipop upgrade? Or the final stability update that it will reach the grave with?

I believe the VFNZ Note II LTE Also got the 4.4.2 update the other day!  I still have mine, soon to be replaced with a Nexus 6, but it's running CyanogenMOD.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

My last update was last month I think. Yes 4.4.2 but mine's a N7100

I don't think the N7100 was released by any carrier here, was it?  Is it an import?

I should have said; My Nordic phone has been on Kitkat since July last year, so if Lollipop does come to the Note2 range, I'm pretty sure my device will be among the first to see it. If no lollipop emerges, then I'm going to root/rom and make this old classic live on.

My note II (7105) got a very large update (nearly 1GB)  a few weeks back.
Its a parallel import - think its actually a Singapore model - though no telco junk on it at all.

The version of Android did not change though - still 4.4.2 - havent noticed any changes on the phone.

While there were originally posts about the note II getting lollipop and it being mentioned on Samsung sites in various parts of the world - apparently most of those posts have recently vanished and the Note II is not now being mentioned at all. A bit ominous I think. Wouldnt hold your breath for Lollipop. Its a pity - the hardware is certainly up to the job...

Yes, by the original owner :)

I got it off him when he upgraded to the Note 3

Probably similar update to the one I got.

I did notice one change - the predictive text/swipe input is slightly different- auto space after every word, which means you don't have alternative words suggested once you lift your finger off. Bit annoying really. Would be better to auto space before any word that isn't preceded by punctuation. That way you wouldn't have to backspace to put in a fullstop correctly, then space to start the new sentence :(
