Going by their  price of $499 for the Moto G4  plus the pixel will be expensive.  Guess 32 Gig model $1250..

Just doing some quick math..

Jb hifi AU lists Pixel 32gb as $1080aud. Take AU gst off, and that's $980aud / $1050nzd, add NZ gst back on makes it ~$1200. So yeah, probably $1200-1300

Doing the same thing for the Pixel XL 32GB comes out as ~$1400

And if you really want to light your wallet on fire, Pixel XL 128GB looks to be ~$1600. For a phone. Ouch.

Same price as the S7 128gb, and Note7. Note 7 superior in every way bar one for my money.

Still trying to decide whether to get one.

If you purchase on a trip to Aus, how easy is it claim back the AUS GST - is it simply done on the spot at the airport on way out?

It looks like Google's hype Pixel's about software video stabilisation may have some substance ...

Very easy, especially if you are organised. You need to have the goods and the receipt on you (can't pack in luggage). There is an app you can download to speed things up where you refill the details and it gives you a QR code. They will scan the code, sight the goods and receipt and swipe your credit card for the refund to be credited to.

I did this leaving Sydney last month and the whole process probably took 90 seconds or less at Sydney airport (It will be longer if you don't have a QR code).

I've been unsuccessful in convincing myself that I do not need to upgrade my 6P to a Pixel. If I run into one in Perth next month I'm bringing it home with me. I wonder if our customs will want a cut?

I can't understand going from an S7 to a Pixel, nor for that matter a 6P to a Pixel (though the 6P is a generation old phone so I guess......).

A lot of the reviews for this phone are seriously positive, wired and verge especially heaped praise on the experience as a whole which is something I think I've forgotten about over the years always chasing the latest and greatest potentially at the detriment of the best overall 'experience' whereas that has always been the iPhone's MO.

When I think about what's most important to me it's all day battery life, a fantastically fast UI and browsing experience and a fantastic camera wrapped up in a chassis i like holding - which is the Note 7 running the material design theme for me

Really annoyed it's going to be hard to get my hands on one to see what it's like I'm still rocking my Note 7 which has unfortunately set the bar sky high and the S7 Edge is not a suitable replacement due to ergonomics.

Better to hold a slippery Edge than a burning Notetongue-out

Found a video of the Pixel's vibration motor in action

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuMfQEZAhyY

Its a linear vibration motor, similar to the Tactic Engine in the iPhones

But the Pixel's is not quite as big or as high quality

Well, I have the device, it's pretty nice. I got black 32GB. I'd be pretty surprised if this wasn't manufactured by Huawei given the build appearance etc.

Screen is nice and bright, don't have time to do the setup or anything, but the vibration is very aggressive compared to the haptic of a Samsung Device.
