I see that Google now have special pricing until December 22nd.

I got the US$200  Black Friday discount through bigapplebuddy.com (for a landed price of NZ$1400.18 for my Pixel 3XL 64Gb)

so I recommend getting a quote while the special is on.

So how much did it cost you in hand including all duties?

jol: I ordered a 64GB Pixel 3 XL from Dick Smith about two weeks ago for $1479. With the price now at $1439 and the phone still over a week away from dispatch, I have requested that the $40 difference be refunded, either to my credit card or as store credit.

According to clause 8.2 in their terms and conditions, I am entitled to cancel and receive a refund at any time prior to dispatch. So hopefully being refunded the difference won't be a problem. I'll let you know how I get on.

An update from me. My Pixel 3 XL dispatched from somewhere in Victoria, Australia yesterday. That's good news as it should arrive before Christmas.

I've also been told that I will get a $40 store credit, though that doesn't seem to have been applied yet.

Sam here, order dispatched from VIC, but store credit not yet show up. Have replied their email to find out why.

My order status has just changed to "Being picked in Warehouse" so I'm hoping this means it will ship this week rather than next. The expected ship date is still showing as the 18th but perhaps that number doesn't take the order status into account.

The option to change my address is also gone now - just says "We are currently loading your order. If you wish to change your address please check back in an hour."

Same here, currently mine is at the "Held at Export Hub Due to High Value" stage after being dispatched from VIC

Thanks for the updates DSE Pixel 3 buyers! I was thinking about holding out to see what pricing is like for Pixel 3 lite, but given DSE is shipping already I'm tempted to try and get a Pixel 3 from them before Christmas!

Mine is now dispatched. I see they list the shipment as including one "Ouli SL-167 18W QC 3.0 USB Charger".  The specific charger doesn't seem to be listed on the internet anywhere but this seems to include a list of the manufacturers other products: https://ouli.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6008848964279/Homepage.htm

Not sure I want to trust a $1300 phone to a charger that is about as no-name as you can possibly find. Or, for that matter, trust my house to one. I guess I'll look around somewhere for a quality USB-C charger and just charge it in the meantime from something else.

Anyone know of an affordable AU reshipping service? I was tempted to pickup a Pixel stand but I don't know I want to buy one from DSE (if/when they make one available) if its going to come with some questionable charger. Would rather get the proper AU model from somewhere else.

Geektastic: Just use a Samsung charger?

Not sure if a Pixel 3 will fast-charge from a Samsung charger. It needs something implementing USB-C Power Delivery where as the Samsung USB-C chargers available here all seem to use "Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging" which appears to be similar to/compatible with Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0.

Laptop USB-C chargers should work (they all implement USB-C PD as far as I know) but would be a bit overkill for a phone.

It's likely that DSE included the extra charger because the one in the box has US plug. In that case you just need a socket adapter.

If you trust stuff from Jaycar, this might be a more elegant solution. It says it supports 18W USB Power Delivery fast charging, and has an AU/NZ plug. https://www.jaycar.co.nz/18w-usb-type-c-mains-power-adaptor-with-power-delivery/p/MP3410

The fact that the Ouli charger above apparently uses Quick Charge 3.0 rather than USB Power Delivery makes me sceptical about it. But theoretically if Dick Smith are supplying the charger, they would have to cover any damage it causes during the retailer's warranty period.

I can't see anything on my invoice or tracking information from Dick Smith saying what charger they have included.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a full refund from DSE if you've ordered but they haven't dispatched the product?
