Dial111:

On Nougat it would take at least a couple of minutes for the tv to establish an Internet connection when turned on so apps like Netflix and Youtube would either hang on loading or fail to load due to no connection, that was annoying. I'll try to see if the connection is faster in the morning.

Fixed!

Turned on and booted YT and Netflix immediately with zero issues.

CrashAndBurn:

One issue I found yesterday is that Sony Select keeps coming back even after I disable it and the option to uninstall is greyed out.

It seems no matter what you do to disable Sony Select it keeps coming back . Trying to keep the Home screen clean , I find that it helps the performance of the TV in general .

Hello All

Latest Question: I have download the new Oreo once it is available on the TV..

Does anyone has any problem when you turning on the TV? There will be no response when you press the On button.

I have to remove the main power, and wait couple of second/minutes in order to get it working again...

I have a Logitech USB Keyboard connected to the TV as well

Any of you have this similar issue?

Thanks
Jacky

Is this on the remote? Replaced batteries just in case?

My 2016 Sony Android TV upgraded fine.

I have also have a Shield and MiBox - so I am big fan of the Android TV OS. That said the Sony isn't as responsive as these 2 devices - but it is more than acceptable and this upgrade is SO much better than the version it shipped with.

Recommended if your TV can accept the update.

PS: I note a post above re slow boot-up and yeah mine is the same - but it has been for a while......so I just wait and it comes on after a minute or 2....

I experienced it a few I times. I just press and hold the power button and it restarts the TV.

Haven't seen the startup problem. Hope that hasn't jinxed me!

Also have a USB Logitech KB.

Needed? Maybe not?

But - it is faster, more intuitive, modern, user friendly and more customisable - so definitely wanted from POV given I have been using this interface on my other devices for several months in advance.

I found the update to be a lot faster than previous version and more stable , the only issues I had was using the DNS service no longer worked and connection to WiFi was iffy , both of these issues were sorted by turning off IPv6 on my router .

I've had the exact same problem happen 3 times now this last week. The only thing I have plugged into the TV is the shield. Both the shield and the TV remote wouldn't get the TV to turn on. Same as you, the only thing that would get it back on is switching it off at the wall.

Do you have HDMI ARC source connected to a soundbar, try disabling that when the problem re-occurs and if that's what is causing it there is an option to turn that feature off in settings somewhere.

I remember reading about it that HDMI ARC returns the audio source to start up along with TV and when Audio source does not respond TV does not turn on.

Yep, hdmi offered some cool integration type options to power devices on/select inputs etc, but in a lot of cases it just adds to the complexity and can be a bit tricky.

I'm still using the old harmony IR remote, and for the device to have a clue what state things are in you have to disable all hdmi controls.

Our TV has been very stable since undertaking the update, and it's a lot cleaner now.  In a lot of ways it's sad to see that it's taken this long to be what it should have been right from the start , ie clean and intuitive.

No issues to report, and if anything its a bit zippier and more stable than before.
