and what would be the differences between the global and CN versions?

Software is the chief one. The Chinese version natively runs Hydrogen OS which differs significantly as there are no Google services in mainland China, and has been unofficially modified to run Oxygen OS. While in generations past doing this has resulted in units capable of receiving software updates, this was never official and could break at any time, including Google Play certification.

The Chinese versions use a slightly different set of components and are not certified to anywhere near the same level as global in terms of SAR/safety/emissions/radio frequencies/software licensing, although they do by and large support the same network bands as at least one global version - in this case the EU version instead of the US version. Thankfully there is no impact on the bands needed for NZ networks regardless of the version you buy, although I believe there are more carrier aggregation combinations supported on the US and EU versions.

In box accessories will differ. Packaging will differ. There is supposed to be a screen protector included with the Chinese version, but as you and others have reported, there may not be.

Whether you or others care about this is up to the individual. Above all, good luck with warranty.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response 😊

I was actually planning to buy from PB Tech, however the staff at the Penrose branch refused to price match for me with either Expert info tech or Noel Leeming, and in the interest of saving 50 bucks I went with NL.

To be honest I don't really care about the warranty stuff because I never keep my phones for more than a few months, and I have content insurance anyway if anything happens. The Note 10 is coming out next month and il sure be buying it. So the oneplus 7 pro is my interim device, yes I know I'm sick 🤣

Off topic, I'm expecting there will be the usual combos and packages for the note 10 as there was in previous years?

There are a few reasons others are cheaper. I hope you don't end up with first-hand experience of why that is, other than the NZ fast charger included with PB's global stock. :)

Looking forward to Samsung's next big thing.

So was just reading on line and it seems that the oneplus 7 pro supports USB PD 15 watt charging.  This could be handy as i have a few PD chargers / power banks (including the 18w apple one) and could fix a few issue getting oneplus chargers and cables :)

Sure not as fast as warp/dash charging but still good to see it supports another charging method.

Hey guys, im travelling to US and Canada next month and I'm looking to pick up a 12gb OnePlus 7 Pro but I'm worried about network support.

I'm most likely to buy it from Canada and also take advantage of the 5% student discount but looking through their site and the Check carrier compatibility link, it doesn't show any information New Zealand.

Do you think buying the Canadian version will give me any problems? Im using Skinny mobile here.

The North American model has all the required bands for NZ networks.

The usual applies about GST and warranty of course.

Thank you for your replies. Getting more excited for the phone now :D

I will definitely put a case on it. I like to have 2-3 different cases to try. Apart from the one out of the box, do you guys have any recommended ones or ones to avoid from personal experience. I prefer slim cases

Spigen Rugged Armour all the way.

There's a clear case in the box as standard.

Anyone else notice chrome is now seemingly locked to 60fps instead of the usual 90?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32820558290.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.48b94c4dA2tTWG

Only replaced it as i damaged the built in screen protector when my keys hit my phone when i was throwing them on the table :(

If you get this one however watch how to install it as it confused the hell out of me until i watched a the clip on ali.

Lucky i got 2 of them.

I am now thinking of getting one of these phones having seen the Pixel 4 announcements and nothing really exciting me there.

The lack of wireless charging is a minor annoyance. But since it charges so quickly it's probably not an issue.

But just wondering have people looked at the leaked new of the Oneplus 7T and it appears to have wireless charging and think that might be a better option (depends on price of course)

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
