If anyone is concerned regarding compatibility, here's the official google list of Pixel models and the 5G standard they work with.

https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/10082009#learn_which_phones

So if 5G is a must, one must confirm with the PI shop the exact Model ID before purchasing.

AFAIK, even if the phone you get from AU meets the NZ 5G requirements, the service provider has to support Pixel 6/6 Pro, otherwise the settings won't get pushed/activated to your phone.

And that's the problem here the carriers don't want to know about the pixel.

Can't you just manually add in the settings like the good old days?

Does it not apply to 5G?

Unsure if this means anything but noticed that PI went into liquidation on 23rd July 2021 and is under a different trading name now.

Unsure if it affects their credibility/service

No it's part of the MBN config which is very tucked away under lock and key within the system itself.

Interesting, didn't know PI was liquidated.

I guess at least they have a physical store if anything goes wrong.

After watching a few reviews I gotta say my interest has waned a fair bit.

Poor low light video and massive issues with lens flair.

I may just hold off for the S22 Ultra.

Regarding the pixel 6/pro 5G compatibility for Vodafone. I have reached out to them to double check. However, I am not 100% sure until someone actually tests it with a pixel 6/pro, for all I know they could be saying  "yes" just to get it over with lmao. I have asked 2 agents about it.

So for 5G for in NZ (vodafone) their network operates at 3.5ghz(78) with is supported on most of the pixel 6 models and should theoretically work, in saying that someone would need to take on for the team and test it to be 100% sure.

Got the exact same frustrating answers. When I pushed them for further clarification they got angry and asked me to call their Sales team.

Vodafone does not seem keen to publish any concrete information about supported devices for 5G. The 5G Phones page on their website doesn't even list the iPhone 13 (which they insist will work). It also does not list random Xiaomi devices that others claim work on 5G with Vodafone NZ.

On another note, has anyone confirmed MightyApe devices are the Australian variants?

Think we would have to wait for someone to take one for the team and confirm, Vodafone answers are pretty vague and not really that helpful, they didn't even know their own 5G frequency until I told them. He even told me it's not even in their notes!

Even with the bands, if the configuration isn't there it's not gonna work.

I would go and actually read this entire thread and look at the other threads with other pixel phones that have had 5G and you'll see that it flat out doesn't work unless you're happy with modifying the system and gaining root to add something that may or may not even work anyway.

If someone wants to fund me a purchase of one I'd be happy to throw all of our big 3 SIM cards at it and see what works and what doesn't but my guess and from reading every other thread here on GZ is: 5G isn't going to work.

I've repeated this song and dance a fair bunch and unless any of the big 3 carriers take interest or Google actually opens their eyes I doubt you'll get an update to enable it anyway.

For what it's worth I did actually ask MightyApe pre pulling of listings if they test their devices to make sure 5G works and I got no reply 5 days later and now this happened.

Trust me. I would have loved to own a Pixel device, even now but because Google doesn't give a damn about NZ and carrier support is very unlikely to never gonna happen. Doubt we'll see it ever and I won't ever own one until I'm done with my time in NZ.
