Dingbatt: So far I have been setting up my One without putting the Telecom NZ sim from my HOX in it. But I am beginning to wonder if the handset I have got is actually an XT one at all. The startup splashscreens don't have the Telecom 'pot-scrubber' emblem like my HOX does and there is no 'MyTelecom' or Y!World icons once it is started. I am pretty sure those features are part of the firmware and nothing to do with the sim.
The firmware version is 1.29.980.2 which shows up as a VF AU version when I do a 'net search. My XT HOX firmware is X.XX.781.X
The receipt I got from NL says it is an HTC One XT, but what are the chances I have been given a VF One instead? And if that is the case is there a downside?
If it needs repair, the first thing they will notice is that it isn't running XT firmware.
I also want 4G when it is available on Telecom.

Can GZers who have XT or VF handsets please confirm what firmware they are running so I can at least know where I stand. And I know it is previously mentioned in this thread but I can't find it, How do you check if the handset has a 4G radio?

I bought mine from the daily Red Alert Deal from the Warehouse, it said it is the XT version, software version 1.29.980.2.

When I put my Vodafone sim card in, under the mobile data network settings, network mode was set to automatic GSM/WCDMA/LTE.

You can reply to a missed call by long pressing the number in the call log. Select send message con the popup menu.

Regarding the firmware on Telecom One, it shares it's firmware with VF AU and Optus. There is no Telecom stuff on the phone till you insert the SIM for the first time.

cathy88: Does GSM/WCDMA/LTE show up under your network mode?

Im beginning to think that Telecom didn't lock anything.

Maybe this is dependent on the sim card you have in the phone, rather than the provider having any sort of lock on the phone?

So if your provider has 4G/LTE available, then the phone displays the setting, if not, then it doesn't display it?

Vodafone SIM in mine and the LTE settings showed up.

Got GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto option in addition to the current options.

There is no LTE here to test but it looks like LTE disabling never happened and it is just SIM dependant.

Heya guys. I've recently got my XT One from Noel Leeming and can say its a spectacular device!

mrgsm021:

Yeah, I thought I would end up having the MyTelecom app on the phone but it is nowhere to be found, which is good.

In regards to the above, my One has the MyTelecom and Y! TWorld apps installed. Although my software version is identical to others stated recently. Perhaps this was installed during the online setup where I selected the Telecom XT version. Did this happen to anyone else?

It happens when you put the SIM card in or boot it up with it in the first time.

What location do you select when you first set up HTC TV? It doesn't have NZ as one of the options...

It doesn't work here but if you just want to use the remote app then pick Aus.

Brendan:
bradstewart: I ordered the Rock slim case for about $8 on eBay ($30+ on TradeMe) and it arrived yesterday from HK, 7 days after ordering. It's slim, looks great and actually makes the phone easier to hold. Really stands out in a bright green/yellow.

There's some characters on trademe for sure.

Any URL?

This is it

Thanks.

What sort or battery life are people getting? Any tips specific to the HTC One for saving battery life?

Mine seems to go down fairly quickly compared the the S3 - trying to decide if it's a poor signal or something else.

I have two videos file, both the same video but one is .avi the other is .mp4. The video plays on both of them, but only the sound plays on the .mp4 video. Why is this? Looking on the official HTC One website it says it supports .avi and .mp4 video.

Have I made the .avi file sound unplayable due to the audio format?

Most likely a codec issue.

Install MX Player or VLC or similar from Play.
