Regarding the firmware on Telecom One, it shares it's firmware with VF AU and Optus. There is no Telecom stuff on the phone till you insert the SIM for the first time.

You can probably add VFNZ to the list if the demo model in the Vodafone store I visited was anything to go by. It had the same 1.29.980.2 firmware.
Is it possible that they just have different radios flashed on them? If that is the case it would make it interesting when the time comes to activate 4G (if it is in fact dormant on the XT models). Do I need to boot into recovery to check the radio?

I am intrigued that the sim has the ability to load shortcuts on to my phone, but I guess it sets up APNs etc on bootup so why not. I still haven't put my sim into the new phone but I have a VF microsim lying around as well. Would it matter which one I put in the phone first? Can't test 4G on the VF as it is prepay (which sucks VF, do you want my money or not?)

Brendan: What sort or battery life are people getting? Any tips specific to the HTC One for saving battery life?

Mine seems to go down fairly quickly compared the the S3 - trying to decide if it's a poor signal or something else.

If you're on Telecom check my previous tip about setting the phone to WCDMA only to save battery on searching for 2G networks.

He's may be able to talk, but not on that mobile anymore...

Perhaps she's not able to speak to him because he's not answering the calls anymore?

Just had a look at my One in fastboot, the Radio is 4A.14.3250.13. The stores might get a bit antsy if I try and put their demo models into fastboot (the store with ninjas even looked at me funny when I said I wanted to check the firmware version) so if anyone with a Telecom or VF store purchased one can have a look that would be appreciated. Might be interesting to see what the various parallel imported ones are running as well.

I found the Baseband Version buried in 'Settings', mine shows

4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L

My friend in the USA picked up a black One yesterday. Mad jealous!

I've also managed to chew through about 140MB in less than 4 days. Oh dear.. really do wish the choices for data in NZ weren't so poor. Get 500MB cheap enough.. a decent amount though and you end up paying triple or more.

I hope that once telecom put out their 4G they'll do some competitive data plans and force Vodafone into doing the same, I'm sure you guys are aware that NZ has close to the highest prices for mobile phone use in the world.

It's crap but it's not surprising considering it's also about the second or third most expensive place to buy pot.

I think Vodafone ripping people off with the data; The data on the htc one ive used is much less a what vodafone stated in my vodafone account. Im on smart prepay data plan of 500mb and already used all the 500mb in a week and i always used the wifi on my phone.
On my other phone im in telecom data plan of 500mb and last me for all month using both wifi and 3g.

Same radio for all. Check my post on the last page, LTE is not disabled on the Telecom phones, looks like you just need an LTE SIM.

Battery life for me after 3 days with the phone has been very impressive. The first full charge lasted me one day and 9 hours. I can't remember the screen on time but this is a massive improvement over the Note for me.

Camera wise, I have to say I don't miss having an 8mp or 13mp camera at all. The colours and sharpness from the camera is awesome. Taking a look at the shots from my S3, it's not comparable, especially in-doors.

Also, the lack of an SD card has been somewhat of a blessing. Not having to move apps to SD etc means the user experience is smoother and less hassle.

The One not having its own file manager app takes time to get used to, have had to use the ES File Explorer.

Battery life seems to last over a day for me as well during weekdays as don't really have much time to play with it at work but weekend probably just under a day for me as my wife/kids likes to play games etc on it.

So am I the only one constantly getting less than a day out of my One battery life?

Is there a good app I can use to track where the powers all going? I can only see what apps are using the most in the stock battery details.
