Hey so I am getting my unlocked Atrix 4g tomorrow, the plan was to update it straight to 2.3, yet when I went on the Motorola site, and set the region to NZ, my phone was not on the list (which means there are no updates for it). I have downloaded the AT&T update, but I have a feeling this wont work if the phone has an XT sim in it. I'm not really keen to root my brand new phone, any suggestions?

I doubt the sim will affect anything. It will most likely be matching the update to the phone's csc or product code.

I think the only issue you would have would be making sure the phone is unlocked and compatible with the 850mhz WCDMA band.

When you select the region to NZ and it shows no updates is because the phone has never been sold in NZ,
