I've followed instructions online such as these

http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/3/2769461/google-wallet-for-any-nexus-s-galaxy-nexus-on-any-carrier-no-root

But when I go to install the app, it asks me to check my device, it shows up as "2 Degrees Galaxy Nexus", ie, it knows my network (which wont support it supposedly), and denies its installation.

Is there any easy way to put Google Wallet onto my phone?  I'm quite sure I'll never be able to use it here (?), but would sure like to have it.  My phone has NFC for a reason!

Thank you :-)

You might find that you're being locked out because the Play store knows that your phone is on 2degrees in NZ, not the T-Mobile network in the US. It also appears that the app itself needs to authorise, and if you're not in the US it won't let you do so.

The only way to get the app will be to root your phone, then to use Market Enabler to trick the phone into thinking you've got a T-Mobile US SIM card. You should then be able to download the app from the Market and have it authorise itself when it first starts.

Have a look at this thread on XDA for instructions and more information.
