There a a couple of catches to this though.

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=galaxy_nexus_hspa

US only and to even see this link you will need a US IP address.

Then of course there will be local sales tax. I entered a CA address and the final cost with shipping was $446 but at  current exchange rates that's about NZ$550 which is a great deal.  There might not be sales tax if shipped outside CA since Google's headquarters are in CA but I didn't check that.

If you have a friend over there who can buy for you and ship over here, then probably the best deal on the GN at the moment.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

"3G (850, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)"

It's not the true penta-band global Galaxy Nexus?

What band is missing?

The 900 MHz 3G, pretty critical for VF and 2d outside of cities

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/coverage/

You need the 900 MHz band to get 3G coverage in those orange areas (where there isnt red coverage)

Interesting. It could be an omission or they asked Samsung to make yet another model omitting the 3G 900 band. That seems unlikely since how much would be saved doing that?

The only point to consider is this is a US model sold in the US and they don't use 3G 900 but then they are going to penalise all their users who roam overseas.

Not really.  They can still use the 2100 band that seems common in Asia and Europe or come to AU and NZ and use the 850 band..

But I think you have to pay GST/import duty for mobicity.

"As a result any prices displayed on the website do not include GST or import duties. An order value of less than NZD 399 is not normally subject to additional charges or payments. Goods liable for duties over NZD 60 (ie over NZD 399) or are held with customs until the charges are paid. You will be contacted directly by NZ Customs regarding payment of these fees. This is normally a simple and straightforward process and can occur same day. Orders over NZD 1000, require a completed Importers Client Code application form, details of which will be provided to you by NZ Customs. The fee structure is made up of an import entry transaction fee (IETF) of $25.30 (including GST) and a MAF Biosecurity risk-screening levy of $12.77 (including GST) ? totalling $38.07, plus a Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 15%, based on the Customs value of the goods, and including the duty (if any) and postal/courier charges. "

And there are $100 extra to pay.

If you use comgateway.com they have their location in Portland, Oregon...and Oregon doesn't charge sales tax.

comgateway.com are based in Singapore, so you can get online support via chat at socially useful times here in NZ.

I've used them and they were great.

I paid GST...and fair enough.

There are no import duties......just "fees" to make sure you're not a terrorist or importing bio-hazards.
