Just got a Huawei U8815 Ascend from Vodafone here. Charging for first use:

First impressions are good - nice screen, good feel on hand.

I need to replace my wife's HTC Desire. Might add this to the compare list. Any further impressions/comments?

Nice screen, not as large as the HTC One X so perfect for pocket/bags. Ran Quadrant and didn't disappoint.

Glad to see your first impressions are good. I haven't yet joined the smartphone crowd, mainly dues to financial constraints, but I'm hoping to soon with this phone. I'm getting my brother to pick one up in the UK for 100 pound. I'll be able to get it unlocked, a 32gb microsdhc, basic case, for about the same price as an 8gb iPod touch sold here. I see they are retailing for $450 here. I'd prefer to buy locally, but at double the price it's just not an option. I know it's unlocked but still... such a price differnce.

I see these are available at better prices from the warehouse.
And from digital mobile. $299.

NZtechfreak has loaned this phone to me so that we can do a review of this device for the Androidnz.net website. It's currently charging at the moment and I'll start writing about my use of it during the weekend.
