What are your thoughts? Looks pretty good for the price, arm cortex a9, mali 400 gpu and 1gb ram with a 10 inch capacitive touch screen. All that and android 4.0 with updates even.

Did you end up getting this? I'd like a cheap tablet too, but with reasonable specs (one which can go with a keyboard would be even more awesome.... !)

Rumours of a new 7" Google branded tablet built by acer have surfaced in the last 24 hours. Expected to be priced around US $200. May be worth the wait?

WILL be worth the wait. 1280 x 800 resolution and a better quality screen, Tegra 3 beats anything in those tablets, Android 4.1, direct software updates from Google, and it will be roughly the same price - $275 to $300 here is my guess

Borrowed a friends one once I realised he had a zenithink (zepad, ztpad, all the same). He has the c91 with 512mb's of ram. It was only running android 2.3.4 cyanogenmod, and was quite slow and clunky. There is an update to ICS available for the one I tried, but I did not apply it. It works ok, and feels reasonably solid, but it is probably not worth the $250-400 you pay on trademe.

Maybe the c91 upgrade or the c92 could be better, not really sure. They are still all 800mhz tablets even if they do have 1GB of ram. The c92 is also a lot thinner and has the same hardware as the c91 upgrade, so this may be the better one to go for if you are going to get one of these cheap tabs.

Overall they are cheap, reasonably built, quite slow, development seems to be happening on the zenithink side for firmwares, but as they do not release source code, there will be no fast custom roms for this tab.
Probably better off waiting or spending an extra $150-200 for a good tablet like the Samsung 9 or 10 inch galaxy tabs.

No working bluetooth= no keyboards. They seem to have bluetooth, but it is not enabled in the kernel.

Google Nexus 7" Tablet for US$199? YES PLEASE!!

Good timing too, as I was just about to buy a secondhand HP TouchPad from TradeMe as a cheap option to get a fairly powerful Android tablet (TouchPad runs WebOS but options exist for puting Android on it). But I suppose now I will just have to find the will power to wait, as that is going to be incredible value for that price point!

good luck finding a nexus 7 for that price honestly, at the moment they are about $450 most places thats if they aren't sold out. The nexus 7 also has major downsides such as no micro SD slot, no USB storage and no HDMI port. Also the nexus is of course a smaller size to the Zenithink.

I got the Zenithink C91 Upgrade back in May and It was alright but used to crash quite often. Since a Firmware update was released in July, It hasn't crashed once and is now clocked at 1GHz up from 800. My only complaints now about this tablet is the weak WiFi and also its pretty bulky/heavy. Also the tablet can't charge when it is plugged into USB, and the screen is permanently on when connected which drains heaps of battery power.

I was going to get one with an IPS screen originally but I noticed this one used a cortex A9 instead of A8 in the other device. being a noob I thought that would mean it was a dual-core but no the A9 also comes in single cores.

There are quite a few custom roms for this device, I tried one and it was good except that it was made with the old firmware. I'm pretty sure the makers will have made new roms with the updated one by now.

Ask me any questions about it if you're interested at all. Also I am trying to sell it.
