Hi All

A bit confused with my Galaxy S2, when viewing my contacts with Kies it displays contacts for the phone and for the sim seperately. When viewing phone contacts all the fields are there like ph no, email, group etc. When viewing sim contacts not all numbers are there and it only displays the numbers and names. Have tried to view contacts showing sim and phone together with my device but it duplicates all my numbers. i.e. i get the phone and sim contacts combined. How can i get the full listings stored on my sim. Thanks

That sounds about right, some of your numbers are stored in the sim, some on the phone, kies does seperate them all out.

Rememeber that the sim can't store all the info, only the names and numbers, and sometime you will have contacts that are stored on both the phone and the sim, on my S2 i've moved all my contacts off the sim to the phone, and backed the whole lot up with kies

Great thanks for the reply. So if i use contacts on the the phone will i manually have to enter any missing numbers that were on the sim and not the phone as i have numbers on both. I also take it i can then restore the contacts file only from Kies if i ever need to?

Personally I would migrate all my contacts to google and use gmail to edit/amend. From a backup perspective it is perfect, you have to do nothing and lose/get another phone jsut resync your gmail and bam all your contacts are there instantly

You can set the phone to use either contacts from the sim or the phonebook or both, if set to both, then if the same number/person is on both it will show up twice.

It is an easy task to move all the contacts off the sim to the phone, or to a gmail account.

Just don't rely on one place to store them, eventually it will fail.
