Hi All

I've just received notification on my Galaxy 10.1 tablet that an update is ready to be downloaded/installed.  I've deferred it for the time being (for a day) so I could research this a bit, as I've read a few horror stories about updates causing problems.

Could you please advise me about how to back up and then restore my music, photos, downloaded programs, etc?  I assume I have to do that, or I will lose the lot.

I'm sorry to appear such a klutz, but I'm just not sure how to go about this safely.  I have Kies on my computer, but that hasn't always worked that well.  I assume this is an OTA update though, right?

Thanks so much in advance.

OK, Kies is working now (since I downloaded the latest version) and I've done the firmware update successfully.  Interestingly, although Kies advises backup of all important files (which I did), I didn't need to restore, as everything seems to still be there.

The only other query I have, is that I seem to remember getting a message originally about moving some things to/from the applications list .  That message didn't reappear, so I haven't been able to do it.

Anyone know what that might have been?  Come on now, don't be shy. :)

Oh well, it doesn't really matter now - all is well. :)

According to KIES, I am running firmware version: PDA:KMP / CSC:KMP (XAB).  Is that what you are running?
I only ask as I was running a Custom ICS ROM, but recently went back to stock for the pending ;) official ICS update etc.
