Checking it out now. Still need to Root my device.

Tell me, with the Ulitmate Custom Clock thread. How do you install them? Don't need to be rooted do I?

I am still on 4.0.4? No update for me? Tells me I;m up to date

What version are you on now? If it's not yakju or takju then you won't get OTA. I had yakjuxw (or something like that from Samsung HK so it has local customisation for the Chinese keyboard). So I did not even get the 4.04 update. I ended up rooting the phone (not entirely necessary) and flashing this Google image

https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/takju-imm76i-factory-e8c33767.tgz

Then I was 4.04. Since I was now running stock the 4.1 update came OTA for me.

If you are on stock and have not got the update you can to the reset the Google Services Framework (in ALL tasks) by deleting all the data. It will then show the last update request was 1970 and might cause the OTA to come down.

Yeah can't be bothered rooting.

I tried that method, didn't work.

Any other options?

I've completely lost signal on my phone? Reboot or hard reset doesn't fix it. I can't get the signal back?

No need to root, that's optional but if you are not on yakju or takju then you won't get OTA updates

Won't get them yet? Or just won't get them at all?

Can I switch to those without rooting?

I've checked out some of the rooting guides and they appear more complicated than most devices?

Who knows? I could not be bothered waiting so flashed takju using this guide.

Rooting is an option after and while the process looks a little complex, it turned out to be fairly straightforward.

But before you do that check your ROM using androidinfo available in the Play Store. Otherwise it's hard to know what ROM you have.
