Yeah I updated OTA to Jelly Bean this morning (not sure what the force thing is but I just did a factory reset then when I was back in the update was ready to install).

Ahh, right. It says in the video sometimes it's taken people up to 50 goes for it to work. I couldn't tell you why, I wasn't going to sit and try all day but repeating the process over and over does work.

So far I am finding JB pretty much the same as ICS but it does indeed seem to be much smoother with a few UI improvements. I like it.

I say 'force' because it's obviously not how it's meant to work/I don't think you're meant to be able to update your nexus s just yet.

Nexus s ota update was pushed out by Google late last week Vodafone NZ have been pushing it for a few days.

Sorry can't view the video at the moment what was the force method? Using the #checkin# method puts you in the queue if the update is already rolling out.

With both ICS and JB I've found reset to factory has initiated os update straight away.

JB is nice, it's ICS with performance upgrades that are noticeable. Two biggest features that I've noticed are the slick new notification drawer and the amazing Google Now feature. Currently I'm out visiting someone and a card has auto populated with route, traffic and ETA home. Another card has route and ETA to work for tomorrow morning.

edit:spelling And...

Home now and watched the video, I imagine that is why I've found the reset method to work - probably the same reason "clearing" the cache on that Google Services app works.

I tried the wipe cache method with my galaxy nexus and it won't work. Have tried a good 30-40 times.

The updated camera app is cool. You can swipe the "live" image left to review the previous photo.

This is on my GN but it should be the same. I lived in San Francisco for many years and became a fan of the SF Giants baseball team. So I did some Google searches on the Giants, enabled search history on my Google browser account and now Google Now pops up the current score of a game the Giants are playing and the score for the previous games. That's cool.

I wonder when the AB's start playing again will it work for them? I won't bother with the Black Caps - that is just way too depressing :-(

Just to keep this OT, my daughter's Nexus S touch screen has died so I have to send it back to Vodafone. When I get it back I will upgrade it to JB also if it doesn't come OTA.

My thoughts too - Google Now's context in the USA is very cool but what about New Zealand.

Got a new card today - directions to a Cafe that I frequent most weekends. I wonder if it will learn that I usually go on Saturday, and then on Saturday remind me that I should be there having a coffee!

Well in the interests of research I did a few searches on Crusaders which was went against my grain a little given I am a Hurricanes fan and so far nothing has turned up. But I am seeing current results for the Giants.

You need to ensure you are logged onto your Google account with your browser and web history is enabled to make this work though. Some people might think this is telling Google too much but nothing comes for free.

I fully have a hankering for a plain vanilla jelly-bean experience.

Currently running an S3 on stock ROM and UI..would like a GN though. Wonder when the next nexus phone is coming?

I got my JB update soon as I flashed my phone to Yakju, as I was on a variant that only got the 4.0.4 update last month. JB is great, it's a lot more polished than ICS, it's the little things. Also 'Project Butter' is great, that CPU boost on unlock means the touch responsiveness is there from the get go, everything seems just smoother and the screen looks even better since I believe they did some undocumented tweaking to it, although it was still to saturated in my opinion, so I used Screen Adjuster to lower the contrast a little (best I could do as there is no option for lower saturation)

Got Takju JB OTA on my Galaxy Nexus... it is so much more responsive than ICS, it's ridiculous. Also loving the new features, voice search, google now! are awesome additions. Oh and the version check easter egg is cool too :)

This is a really great phone (aside from battery life, which has improved a bit with JB). I only wish Google would start cracking down more on poor quality apps and provide better APIs for devs. There are so many apps out there that are still so much better on iOS.
