Hi guys, I bought my first Android phone, a U8150. It can with 2degree's crippled firmware, no RDS support constant slowness among other things.

I took off the 2degrees firmware, put on some custom firmware. I don't really like it, so I would like to go to another provider firmware if possible.

I really want to experiment with the T-mobile comet firmware, since that's from the USA and it would have to have all the functions.

Question is how would I install it, the file I downloaded comes with a single large file. (UPDATE.APP) and I have to find a way to install it. It's not like the custom files, when it's in a special .zip file. This is just a single file, and to my Knowledge there's no way of installing such files.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks

I wouldn't load the comets factory image straight off, there might be a slight difference in terms of radio hardware or bootloader and so that's just asking for trouble.
What makes you think a carrier rom will have the features you want?

What was wrong with the custom? I keep meaning to go custom. I don't find the original ROM too bad but it is a bit slow (probably doesn't help that the U8150 is a bit underpowered). I'd also like to enable multi touch.

Which custom firmware did you use?

I don't think the U8150 from 2degrees has the hardware for RDS - could be wrong here. I've installed FusionIDEOS and that doesn't have RDS working. Also, since when did 2degrees have custom firmware? My one was plain vanilla stock standard Google with no branding whatsoever.
