I understand that in order to use bump app on my android, I need to physically bump two phones together.

But, I was just wondering if there was a way to get the old bump contacts to my new phone

I have tried adding to the bump group in the contacts but that didnt help.

I wouldnt be surprised if we cant do it but just thought to check if someone tried something and if it worked...

Weird if they aren't just in your Bump account, stored online somewhere!?

I would have thought it should be synced on their side too.

But you should be able to back up the app and associated data with titanium backup swap sd cards (or use any other transport method) and restore from that in the new phone.
It does require root access, and if you don't have that try to find an app backup app that might not need root (? on second thought I doubt that is possible sorry, still worth a google maybe).
