Hi

Looking for a smart phone but can't afford much!  Found this from Dicksmith in Oz for A$169 that my sister could ship over but don't know if it would work here.  Anyone please advise?

Thanks

Tim

Hi, yes it will work here on both VodaNZ and 2Deg. Its sold as a VodaAU prepay phone, VodaAU is 900/2100 UMTS just like VodaNZ.

You may need to adjust the APN settings, however I purchased two of these for my boys, they put them on 2Deg and the APN settings loaded automagically. Great phone by the way.

Cyril

Edit, ah forgot yes most/all Oz handsets are locked, could cost you $30 or so to unlock, by which time you can probably get one here for similar cost.

Thanks for the quick replies!
OK, by the time I pay for postage and unlocking there probably won't be any significant savings - probably wait until I can find one on sale over here.

Definitely keep your eye out for a sale. They've been on sale for $250 a few times. Check at Warehouse stationary, they had it on sale for $240 last week I think, but the sale may have finished.
I got one about a month ago. My first "smart phone" and I've been pretty impressed. A few minor niggles so far but nothing major. It's meant to be getting an ICS update in the next few weeks and there are developers working on a Jellybean ROM too.

There's a lot of cases and screen protectors for cheap on ebay too. I got a rubber case as the phone was quite slippery and I found the screen glare/fingerprints annoying so got a matte screen guard too which I'm really pleased with.

If you do buy in Aus you will have to get it sent by DHL as AusPost will not ship mobile phones overseas.
