Hey dudes,

got my Nexus 7 tablet last week and lovin it!

I would like to now 'mothball' my n900 I have had for 3 years (sad as I have loved it) and get an Android to match the tablet.

Having spent over 6 hours trying to install a bluetooth-PAN script on the n900 (grrr) and failing....I tried my wife's gingerbread Huawei, clicked the 'share internet as hotspot' check box and I was up and running.

easy.

so It has been the decider (that and the tablet talk app) to move to an android phone.

Dont really need a Galaxy S3 as this will be overkill to the Nexus 7

So.....

Is a < $300 Nexus S a good idea? or a Galaxy Nexus perhaps?

Just something decent with Wifi, Bluetooth and a pretty sweet 3G connection - ps needs to make phone calls too :-)

What do you think?

Battery life is what you need to be aware of. WiFi tethering usually drains a battery pretty fast on small Android devices (eg vodafone 745, 858 etc). My wifes X5 on the other hand is not bad. On my 745 I had to literally leave it plugged into the charger to use the wifi tether for long periods of time.

Also, not sure about the Nexus 7, but on older Android tablets (eg my Galaxy tab) you cant connect to an adhoc wifi connection. So check your Nexus can and that it works with the device you want to buy - Ive seen so many different incarnations of wifi tether on Android (Yay for fragmentation!).

I would avoid the Galaxy S, it's just too old/slow, the Galaxy Nexus is a good phone, as is the Galaxy S2

Both would be perfect for your needs
