Hi all,

I am thinking about getting an HTC One V for my wife.  I want to pick this model because it supports UMTS 850/900/2100 so it can be used with VF, 2degrees, Skinny and Telecom.  Also, it seems to be cheap enough (around $350 for those parallel imports).

Would you mind to share your experience on this phone, both good and bad please?  Also, do you think HTC is going to provide jelly bean update for One V (not One X or One S)?

Thanks!

I bought a One V through Telecom for my wife about 3 months ago. Overall experience has been very good. A SMS notification bug was fixed with a pushed firmware update. The phone is on 4.0.3. I have noticed a lag developing now particularly when selecting the contacts app. Have not investigated what is happening here. Battery life what I would call good. One of her criteria was that the phone wasn't too big which it isn't.

Not sure the One V is going to get JB. My experience with Telecom (& VF) is that they only test a few firmware releases up to about 6-9 months after the phone is released. But is would be nice!

Thanks gpsboy for your advice, I managed to convince my wife that the Galaxy S2 is not much larger and bought one from the Warehouse for $499.

Hi all I have recently purchased the HTC One V and I couldn't be happier except one gripe. When I try and use wifi tethering to my laptop the phone immediately crashes and reboots. I have done some Googling and it seems to be a known glitch that HTC are taking ages to fix. I still thought I would enquire to my fellow kiwis if they have also experienced the same problem.

Cheers

I use Wifi tethering frequently and I have not experienced this issue.

The phone is running Android 4.0.3 Build 2.09.781.2 which is the latest Telecom release I believe. I got this on 25/7/12

One thing I have done to improve performance is disable Facebook as this consumes too many resources. The next thing will be to root the phone and uninstall some of the apps that is comes with.

Cheers
