I have had a few issues with the phone this week. The phone is a 2Degrees SGS3. Was running Stock Android 4.1.1 (BTU) version. Installed Stock Android 4.1.2 (Poland) version earlier this week. After installing 4.1.2 started to get random shut downs, the phone would freeze up when web browsing ether on 3G or wifi. Had to shut down the phone to use it again. Reflashed the phone back to 4.1.1 (BTU), couple of days ago. Had a random reboot yesterday, and the phone completely froze a couple of times yesterday. This morning the phone was beeping and got the following error message 'Encryption Failed'.

So reset the device and now the phone wont go past the Samsung logo.

I cant acces to recovery mode. Can get to download mode.

How ever when I plug the phone to the charger I dont get any indication that phone is charging.

The phone was low on charge last night and there is no indication that the phone is charging hence a bit relucantant to reflash the phone via Odin. Any help or ideas? Other then sending the phone away to be looked at?

The phone is still under warranty. I am posting here to see if anyone else has come across this issue before.

Was the 4.1.2 an official upgrade or a downloaded ROM from other sources?

Try another battery from someone else. Even just to borrow to charge fully and then flash with Odin

Follow the recommendation above. If you take it in for repair it will not be covered by warranty if it's not running the official (local operator) ROM or rooted.

Tried to reflash via Odin no joy. Fails both times when trying to flash ICS version for 2Degrees and BTU (UK). Any one know which partion file I should use?

Everything seems to look fine. No need to find a pit partition, as it's all part of the PDA file. Battery at least 50% when flashing?

PIT files are normally un-necessary because you don't need to re-partition the phone. At most, formatting /system is enough to clear the rubbish. But it seems that on your phone /system has been horribly corrupted and the boot code cant use it.

So we need to re-format the /system (and maybe others).

That you can get to Download mode is promising.

In order of least to most risk:

1. Using Odin, flash a new Recovery image. I suggest the Touch recovery.
If this is successful, boot into Recovery mode (volume up, home and power) and use the advanced menu to format the /system partition. You should also do a 'factory reset' from the main menu too. Then, flash a ROM zip you put onto the SD card.

2. If the above failed in any permanent fashion:
You will have to try Odin, a Stock Samsung image (pick the 2degrees one), and a PIT file. Normally a PIT file is not needed because normally we only have to format the existing partitions, not re do the whole layout.The danger with a pit file is that if it goes wrong while flashing the PIT layout, you are not likely to even get the download mode back. But then again, if you are at the point where this is your only option you haven't got much to lose.Get your ROM image from samfirmware.com, and carefully check and re-check the PIT file is for your phone. Generally, the ROM image goes into PDA (if it's a single big file - recommended), and the PIT file into PIT entry above. Tick on Re-Partition. Click START. Have Heart Attack. lol.
There may be one further problem.

If your EFS partition was also corrupted unreadable, your phone functions will be stuffed. But as you cleverly made a backup of the EFS like every flashing guide insists, it'll be a simple matter of flashing your backup back.

If not.... Well, you can explain that you tried using the encryption function and it screwed your phone, can I have another please under warranty...

Damager, if you look closely you will see he attempted to flash the single file rom image and it failed before it started due to no PIT partition.

e.g. his file system is not only corrupted, but also his partition table. He's lucky he has download mode.

A new PIT partition and partition layout is needed. I think he will need a PIT file.

This is no simply case of a few rouge files left in /system or even a slightly corrupted filesystem in /system I think.
