Hi, I was hoping a Vodafone guru could give me a help.

I updated Vodafone purchased S3 to UK 4.1.2 in fear of the phone dying. I haven't rooted the phone at all, and I don't plan to. It was previously on Polish 4.1.2 which was working well.

I was on Wifi most of the weekend - so did not notice any ill effect.

Today was in Grafton / Domain area - when I was on 3G signal, most of the time data did not work, and I couldn't dial a call either. When it switches it self to H or H+ signal on the phone, everything works as usual.

I am now back home on the shore, and it works fine but I am on H or H+ most of the time here.

Was there a problem with network in Auckland city / Grafton area today?
My colleagues iphone 4s worked fine.

Or should I roll back to Polish rom?

Grafton Gully 3G got a major upgrade today with new hardware So issues today were part of planned work, This work was completed late afternoon so the site is now Dual carrier 43Mbps DL

I appreciate your reply. I will not bother wasting my time resetting or downgrading the rom.

Funny how H or H+ still works superbly - are they completely different bandwidth or spectrum? (sorry I am not very technically minded... or well informed about this matter)

H and H+ is the same band / frequency but different modulation / speed

Thanks John, it's working much more reliably today.

Seems that now it seems to stay on H/H+ at least 50% more than it used to. What I noted though, when I use data on S3, that when the signal shows 3G, it doesn't do much (the bar on browser goes up slowly but nothing really loading, but soon it changes to H/H+ and all the data comes in quickly.

It doesn't time out.

There was once today when I went to radiation bunker - and it lost signal and once I came back to the area of full reception - it showed full 3G (wouldn't switch to H/H+) then I couldn't make any phone call / data transfer. Going to airplane mode and turning it off normalised it.

I am going to try rest of the week - and may try Poland rom again.
