Anyone else have one of these phones?

My Wife got one from 2degrees and even though it has about 5 apps installed it is constantly running out of internal storage.
Seems ridiculous.

It's a cheap phone with what I believe has only 150mb of internal storage, it's fine if you want to do the basics along with a few smaller apps but if you get into anything bigger you'll run out very quickly.

Best thing is flashing a ROM which allows you to use a EXT4 partition on your SD card as additional storage, else you will keep running into this same issue.

Basically what I am trying to say, you get what you pay for in smartphones.

It was $300 at time of purchase.

Hindsight is great and if I had somehow realised what an issue it would become.

Have you tried moving apps to SD card? some apps allow this by default
go to its control panel find applications /app manger and click on each app and see if
has move to sd card.. I assume you have sd card at least in phone
some games like angry birds is like 40mb .. can see the size
in the settings as well.. and of course program data like hi scores
and levels complete.. dont clear those by mistake might pee her off

also pays to check where your storing your photos.. a Folder called DCIM normally
with folder camera? make sure the camera is storing on sd card instead.. can delete and move
stuff with a app like filemanager and set path in camera app

I have a cheap smartphone too with same storage limit.. so I rooted it and use links2sd to move
stuff to a 2nd 1gb partition.. however old OS android makes its more limited that only allowed fat32

which tends to corrupt randomly and of course then have a issue of scandisk it to fix it since phone didnt have a tool to do that. when I last searched
as of course stupid windows cant see 2 partitions on a sd card via the OS
sp you have to run a hack for that as well to make sd card appear as
a normal drive like usb drive.

also sd cards arent as good as internal nand memory
too.. they to me seem to have bad blocks happen

but I found class 10 arent always the best to use
but a kingsmax class 6 32gb seem more rock solid

I moved all her apps to the SD card where the option was avaiable. Many cant be.
I at one stage rooted the phone and was trying to get link2sd working but it was giving errors and became buggy before I could even get it repartitioned so I rolled it back to stock again.

Its just the main things liek a large facebook cache and gogole maps updates taking up the internal memory.

Camera storage is set to SD

Email app is not used, K9mail is set to use SD.

HandsentSMS gets cleared out so less than 100 sms in there etc.

rooting is always the best... you can even install avast or firewall or ad blocker with superuser
its a shame the phones/tablets dont come with a boot up option for user to decide
e.g. some functions loss or warranty .. should be in users control not google or phone coys

as I said setting up links2sd is not so easy

you first need to put the sd card in windows
and use a tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition and
create a 2nd partition (fat 32 always works)
at the end of the card.
so if its 32gb resize it so dont loose whats on it
and leave 1024mb (no bigger is adviced 1gb should be way
enough for app installs)
at the end and make that a new
fat32 partition and format it

then put in the phone.

and then install links2sd and create the boot
files/script it will say if successful or not
like install successful (by memory) as you normally
do that once when setting up

then I set the options to always link dalink cache
libraries and apk execs etc as default
and set autolink new installs by default

you will have to either uninstall and reinstall the packages
used which clears from internal memory and when installs
links2sd background task will intercept and move
it to the secret 2nd partition

thats about it. sometimes i find it dont clean the internal;
off and I go into the more settings and
tell it to clear caches and relink files again
think it has a bug in the app for some phones

I know fat32 2nd partition is rubbish but
always works on all phones from what I read
but if want to play could try ext2 unix
partition or higher but frankly i wouldnt
bother..

if sd card corrupts for some reason later
low battery more likely.. its more work to figure out
how to get windows to scan disk it
to fix it

I have a LG500 which had the same problem. Merely moving apps to SD is no solution as you have found.

I, too, have set up link2sd and that does provide the extra space needed. My conversion went smoothly so am happy with it.

Ok i have done the card setup and now installed link2sd but as soon as i run it and get offered "select the file system of your sd cards second partition"
ext2
ext3
ext4
Fat32/Fat16

I get Mount script error- mount script cannot be created
mount: No such device

EDIT: I had to set the small 1gb newly created partition as primary in the partition software to fix it.

you select fat32 i assume you made it correctly and formatted it. else it keep popuping up with error
if its not fat32 and ext2 you will get error if the phone firmware cant read it.. hence why fat32 was suggested

also your phone needs root access.. superuser it first as has to write boot files so links2sd can
do its job.. also have to grant root access for links2sd and tell it to remember the setting..

simple really

Something went wrong with it last night and my Wife couldnt open any apps that werent on internal memory.
All photos have disappeared from the SD card
Its like the partition disappeared.

As I said above about making fat32 partition.. and some sd card are rubbish are corrupt so easy

you will ahve the fun job of ejecting it.. and use the Drive hack so you can mount a multipartition
sd card as a removal drive so can scandisk it and fix the directory fat on it

I recommend the class 6 Kingsmax 32gb ones,... I tried san disk and other known brands glass 10 and
they all fail so easy and corrupt

you can find them for like $50 on Dx.com

heres info how to mount sd card with 2nd partition for windows.. It works well I tried one of the 3
ways and it worked but I had to remove the sys driver as it stuffed up mounting my normal usb drives
or they did but kept getting read errors.. so I suggest try a spare windows xp pc rather then win 7
or perhaps maybe vmware or something
