While I was on 4.1.1 and still on 4.1.2 every 24 to 48 hours the text messaging app (stock, suggestions of 3rd party ones not required at this stage thanks :-) ) semi crashes causing the messaging list to blank (appears I have no messages) until after a reboot. The messaging app is fully closed, nothing chewing CPU etc.

Thoughts? Similar experiences?

Backup texts and then clear data for the messaging app.

Does it happen right away after factory reset? Or once you've started installing apps.

I had a similar that was caused by transferring messages from on phone to another. The messaging app didn't seem to like that so as soon as I deleted those ones the problem went away.

I didn't bring any messages across.

Will try another data clear then hard reset at some stage.

Yup exact same thing happens to me, completely random when it does happen and only way to fix it that I've found is to restart the phone.

Very annoying!

Which operator is your phone from? 4.1.2?

Mine is and from 2degrees.

Telecom on 4.1.1

I have a Vodafone one on 4.1.2 but I haven't used it enough yet to see if it crashes on that one too.

I notice on my note 2 that when you launch the sms app, sometimes it takes a while to match the contact names to the received texts. Do you have double up names or numbers in contacts?

scottjpalmer: Both Note II?

Yes both Note IIs.

I'll be starting to use the Vodafone one more regularly so will see how that goes.
