My Defy mini broke, now im back to my old defy but it is only android 2.2. When i had my mini i had the Kiwibank app which is awesome, but have found out it wont run on 2.2 so was wondering if there is a way to get 2.3 on my MB525?

Thanks

Check out xda here for the list of available roms

I found putting on a custom rom and getting rid of blur made this device much better

Like any custom rom there are risks but follow the instructions and all should be good - some rom's are more stable than others and you may not find the best one for you first time.

Read the list of 'not working' features of the rom too some cant use the camera or wifi etc.

I put cyanogenmod custom rom on a GFs defy in the past, was better than stock. Was going to link for you, but the cyanogenmod website is down.

If you can't understand it then don't do it.

To develop an understanding there are lots of FAQs as well as youtube videos

Froyo = Andoid 2.2

Flash a rom = Installing a rom

You should back up everything prior

If you plan on buying a new phone soon, then don't bother.

I dont plan on buying a new phone, but i really want/need the kiwibank app, which needs 2.3 to run. Seems as though it will take a fair bit of research to get one of these roms running

Since you are relatively clueless regarding installing a rom you'd probably need to invest 2-3 hours learning + doing this.

I'm sure if you found someone in your area who's on here, bought them a few brews or a box, they would sort it out for you.

The defy isn't too hard to mod, it does require you to know what you're doing though, wouldn't recommend for beginners.
