Maybe others know about this but I never had the need before since my Xoom has a microSD card reader.

Anyway on a recent OS trip I wanted to watch content on my Galaxy Nexus on the plane. But it only has 16GB and I had almost 24GB of files I wanted to watch (in .ts format).  The phone can play them fine, just can't store them.

I then discovered the above app from the Play Store which when combined with a microUSB cable to USB female, allows you go read content of (FAT32) formatted USB sticks and drives. The software is US$3.99 and the cable cost me US$0.99(!) including shipping .

Anyway attaching the cable and then USB drive allowed me to play all the content off the USB drive so I really didn't need more storage on the phone.

That means I am now more inclined to purchase a Nexus 10 and not be worried about internal storage limitations.

I thought the nexus supported USB OTG natively which means you should not need the app, just plug the drive in with the cable and play your content from it. I don't have a nexus, so this is more of a question than a statement.

Possibly but I think you need a rooted device to do it. This app does it without root. 100K downloads can't be wrong I guess?

As an aside that means the developer has grossed at least $400K! for a tiny app. Nice work if you can get it.

Anyone wanting to use this would need be very sure they have USB OTG support first, the app wouldn't be enabling it.

The author says it supports the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 and the Galaxy Nexus. That's why it's called Nexus Media importer. There is no need really for devices that have microSD slots but it also supports the Motorola Xoom but I wasn't able to get it to work on my Xoom.
