Now that most phone manufacturers seem to use micro usb charging ports, which I understand was to limit the number of old chargers ending up in landfills, is there ever going to come a point when the consumer can opt not to get a new charger when they buy a new phone?

We have a number of chargers kicking round home and frankly don't need anymore.  Often if we head away as a family we only take one or two chargers between the four us  I would have thought the next logical step in limiting waste would be to provide a non-charger option?

Yes. Not all new phones come with chargers, some make you buy it separately.

Thanks for that.  I have never seen that option.  Mind you my last phone came from a telco as opposed to a general retail store so it seems not everyone does it.

Cheers

I agree, to a point, I could do with one more charger as I have one at home, one at work but could use one to keep with me :)

At some point however I will have a draw full of chargers.
