I have connected my Nexus 10 to my laptop running Win8 over the home wifi using ES File Explorer and I can see Users, Pictures, Music, Video etc but I cannot see either the internal or external hard drive that has most of my videos on them.
When I access the laptop I can see the following...
ADMIN$ C$ F$ G$ IPC$ and Users.
Users is the only one I can access, all the others just return "Login Fails. This may be caused by: The account has no permissions."

So how do I access the content on my drives so I can watch the videos stored there remotely on my tablet?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

You haven't set up sharing and Permissions for the folder you want to share.

On the W8 machine, rt click folder you want to share/Properties/Sharing/Advanced Sharing. Click box 'Share this folder'. Click box 'Permissions'. If Group 'Everyone' is listed, just tick the 'Full Control' or just 'Read' Allow box.

Now back out till you get back to the 'Properties' window. Now click 'Security'. Make sure 'Everyone' is there (if not, add it via the 'Edit' option). Finally check the permissions boxes you want then OK all to back out.

Good luck - hope I got all the steps!

Ok so I am a big fan of ES File Explorer but didn't realise I could set up to my home network in the way the OP is using for his Nexus.

Any chance you can step me through it either here or via pm would be fine cheers.
