Hi guys
Can you give me a hand on how to backup phone (os, apps and data)?
Before I do anything adventurous I want to backup my phone just in case.
Btw I use galaxy s3 with stock 4.1.2, rooted

I found this app is this right approach?

Thanks for the advice

or do a nandroid with the S3 toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488

Will require you to root first...

Select the number with the closest firmware to yours.
For me it was option 04.

Sounds simple how do I go into recovery? Thanks.

Once backed up where does it store? Just want to transfer it to my computer later to save space on phone.

Turn the phone on holding Vol up, menu and power, let go of power button once it boots into recovery.

This is fine (Nandroid backup) if you want to recover everything if it goes horribly wrong. However, if you want to flash a new ROM and just recover all your apps, Titanium Backup is the way to go.

Thanks doggnz,
First I wanted to create stock backup before attempting any custom Rom.

Yes I will also backup my apps as well.

Can someone confirm backup from this method can be used to restore even if am using a custom Rom? Thanks

use Nandroid backup (CWM recovery) to fully backup your current before flashing custom.

Go to recovery (vol up, on/off, home buttons together)
once in recovery go to backup/restore
the rest is self explainatory.

This is assuming you have installed custom recovery.

If you flash a custom rom and you don't like it you just go to recovery and restore and you will be back exactly to where you were.

Do both

Recovery Backup - if you f00k up your phone
Titanium Backup - Getting your stuff back after changing to a new rom

Didn't read the whole guide, but saw that it mentioned clockword mod
^ boot into recovery (vol up + pwr + home) and if it says clockwork mod, then yes, you have a custom clockwork mod recovery.
