OK it's a novelty but I have to say I felt the urge to buy, specs look good too:

Does look pretty cool. Bit surprised the battery isn't bigger, would have thought 1080p would be standard now too. Dual core fine and the 2GB RAM is ample. Interested to see how the camera performs with it's new clear pixels.

Wired story here. It looks like a nice midrange phone, decent battery life especially if you do sensible things like turn off services you don't use all the time or use an app that does it. 720p/300ppi or so is EASILY enough on the 4.7" screen. 1080p takes more power/performance for little gain. It looks good, the curved back could be a bit annoying sitting it on a desk but I'm sure they've thought of that and done something about it... or maybe someone will sell a cradle. Not sure touchless controls will be that helpful.

Overall it looks like a great device for many people... maybe me, maybe not.

It does sound a bit more expensive than expected. I like the size, but I might just get myself a full S4 - the S4 mini is too expensive for what it is.

I'm loving how this phone looks. Hope they make their way down to NZ. The more I read about it, the more I like it. Isn't it supposed to be cheaper than the One and S4, closer to the current Nexus 4 price?

It's a ballsy call to offer that level of customisation and a guarnteed (and short) delivery time.
But I suspect that will define whether this device is a (consumer) winner or oddity

I'm guessing we won't see the customisation service down here if it even makes it here.
Looking slim it will get here officcially if it is not even likely to get to Britain:

Maybe I need to get over the glass back on the nexus 4 and pick one up because the prices are pretty amazing currently.

How can a company expect to compete with HTC and Samsung when they refuse to offer the product in all regions? It just smacks of utter idiocy.

I'm glad they went with 720P. 1080P is just a waste of $$/battery/cpu power. 1080P is only good for winning spec wars.

Have you seen the Droid Mini, coming out in 3 weeks. Looks really good.

Anyone picked one of these up? Interested in some thoughts. Have an S4 at the moment and love the wireless charging, which is the main thing stopping me from giving the Moto X a try.

Would be awesome if we could order customized versions, or the phone full stop, but I guess this isn't ever going to happen.

Kopkiwi: Anyone

I'm currently trying to get one.

I've tried to buy the Developer GSM edition it by shipping to shipito but the motorola store wouldn't accept the US address.

Only other option seems to be ebay, key is to get an unlocked one.

But i really want a customised one.

At the moment this is exclusive to AT&T but it's been leaked that Verizon ones can be customised next month, I'm hoping that means we can customise others as well.

So just waiting and seeing.

There is no way to order one from Motorola website even using US credit card and US address. I tried 4 times and all got canceled in 10 minutes. So went to ebay and got a white one. Currently almost all ebay white/black ones are from Mexico(few Canada), which is not made in the US but in China, and with better build quality. They all can be unlocked with an unlock code which you can easily buy on ebay or other website offer such service(The seller gave me the unlock code after I received the phone). I tried Vodafone and 2D they all working on the XT1058 model of Moto X. Not sure about Vodafone 4G since the service is not available in Dunedin yet.

Thanks for the advice.

How are you finding the phone?

It is really nice phone. Fits much better than Nexus 4 in my hand due to the size is smaller and curve on the back of the phone. The active display feature is really useful. I haven't use the lock/unlock key since I got the phone. The screen is automatically light up eveytime I pull it out from my pocket or pick it up from the desk. The touchless control is good too, but I only used it for setting reminders. Now I don't have to pick up the phone to set reminders, I just leave it on the desk, and when something comes up, I just say "ok google now, set alarm in 2 hours" for alarm, or "ok google now, remind me in half an hour" for calendar events
