Which carriers will this phone work on?

S4 Mini GT-I9195 (link updated)
There's a slim chance I'll get this phone instead - S4 LTE i9505 (but I think I prefer the smaller size of the mini)

S4 mini specs appear to be here (same model number)

I currently use 2degrees, but coverage at work isn't great (very close to the beehive but on the far side of a building), so I may have to switch. Vodafone and Telecom both have more towers near work - I have no real preference between them, but Telecom appears cheaper with better coverage (Vodafone $45 for 500MB, Telecom $39 for 750MB, 2degrees is same as Telecom but extra data is much more expensive on Telecom).

Edit - found this info
 - Network Info
Telecom: 3G 850MHz and 2100MHz (WCDMA?)
Vodafone: 2100MHz HSDPA
2degrees: 900MHz GSM,

 - S4 Phone Info from various stores
Vodafone model: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900.
Expansys:           GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz / 3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz / LTE Band: 1/3/5/7/8/20
Mobicity:             4G/LTE 1800, GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, 3G 850, 3G 900, 3G 1900, 3G 2100, recommended networks 2Degrees, Vodafone 2G, Telecom XT Network, Vodafone 3G, Telecom 3G 2100

That suggests that it will work on 3G on any network, but how about 4G? If it doesn't do 4G/LTE I might as well get the i9190 model that's cheaper from some places.

Little help guys? I don't know enough to work out which networks the phone will work on, I suspect all for 3G, but not sure about 4G.

Found this link:

http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphone/android-os/GT-I9195ZKAXSP-spec

which suggests the phone would be 4G compatible at least on Vodafone (LTE 1800).

Thanks, much appreciated :)

I'm thinking buying it directly from Vodafone isn't a bad idea/deal. By the time you add GST, customs fees, and delivery onto all of the online stores it's pretty much the same as the $800 Vodafone charges. Also considering S4, only $200 more, main issue is size though not cost.

Should work on Telecom/Skinny and Vodafone on 3g anyway as it supports  900/1800MHz for vodafone 2g, 2100 vodafone 3g, 850/2100 3G for telecom

Should work with 2degrees too

Not sure about LTE/4G

Good to know. I ended up buying the S4 from Telecom, it costs about the same and you know it'll work.

The i9195 supports band 3 LTE/1800MHz, so it will work fine on both TCNZ & Vodafone 4G. If it doesn't work, as above, this will be a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

It appears that the NZ new versions of this phone as sold by the big retailers will not work on Telecom's 4G network either. I discovered this after buying one. I talked to someone at Telecom who said it needs the Android 4.3 update to be enabled for Telecom 4G. Spoke to Samsung who won't tell me when it would be released and they advised me to take the phone back for a refund which I did. It's a shame as it was a nice phone. Sticking to my old iPhone 4 for now.

I'm not sure 4G is really essential. I've never tried it (should do tomorrow), but 3G is plenty fast enough for a handheld device IMHO.

Telecom are currently advertising the S4 mini Black Mist and White Frost as 4G but the Telecom Red S4 mini on special at The Warehouse is shown as 3G. The Warehouse price ticket also listed all the S4 features for the Mini. The Warehouse said that those details all come from Telecom

I got one of the Telecom Red S4 minis from The Warehouse for my wife for Xmas. Haven't tried it yet but it had LTE plastered all over the box so it better do 4g or I'm taking it back!
