I've never owned a smartphone before for starters and I'm having trouble setting my flash new phone up.

Tells me my username and password don't match.  This was for Google Apps.  And not signing in for Samsung content and services either.

Tried several times making sure it was my correct gmail account username and password.

Have got the wifi connected to my home account but that's as far as I've got.

The 0800 number for Samsung help isn't open Saturday afternoons or Sundays.  Maybe that's why it's not recognizing me?

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Are you putting in the whole gmail email address for the username?

Make sure you're entering the full domain, for example I have a Google Apps for Business domain so have to enter @murfy.co.nz but if you're using Gmail enter it as yourname@gmail.com - make sure the password is correct also.

What error is it coming up with?

Hi! thanks for your replies.

Ok just tried again.  This time to sign into gmail from my phone.  Same thing "username or password is incorrect".

Just signed out of google on my pc and tried to sign back in and the same thing happened.  Weird.  So reset my password back to normal and I should be all go now.

But I definitely don't remember changing my google password lately as it's been the same one for years.  Bit of a worry!

Another couple of questions.  How do I get firefox on my mobile? and change my homepage to google?  And how do I find out which version of Android I'm running?

Is there a pc suite to download to my pc?  And if I want to browse the net on my phone when I'm at home will it automatically use my home wifi or use up the data on my sim card first?  I'm on 2degrees by the way.

Thanks for your help.  Quite cool and exciting but also all new territory!

Why Firefox? try using Google chrome on phone and PC as they all link together if you use same login. So you get contacts sync'd, google Docs, Drive, gmail etc

You can download Samsung Kies but its terrible better to use Chrome.

to check for version go to settings, about, its should be there.
For wifi only go to settings again and hit wifi and there should be settings there or push the bottom left hand side soft key and it will bring up settings or advanced

Firmware version will be under settings> about> software information.
Firefox is download-able from the Play Store.
Home page selection is the same for most browsers go to menu> settings> set homepage.

I don't even think you have to have a homepage if you use Chrome.

You could add a Google search widget to your home screen which allows you to search without firing up the browser.

Also, I think Firefox for Android syncs between your phone and PC just like Chrome does - really just a matter of personal preference.

Firefox Sync is a bit of a nightmare to set up if you're not sure what you're doing.... and sometimes a complete nightmare even if you do!
Chrome is definitely easier to get syncing.
