I'm in the market to replace my old Xperia Pro (sooooo slow!) with something fast but affordable. I had started looking at the Chinese guri brands to get a decent bang for buck, and have read many, many threads here on the topic. The problems of choosing one such model seems legend - finding the right specs is hard enough (few are fully compatible with 2 degrees), let alone finding a quality model from a reputable retailer...

I've looked at some of the lower-level Huawei devices, and they seem to offer really good bang for the buck - my sister just bought a Y300 (many sellers have promised her it will work fully on 2 degrees - a thread on GZ doesn't seem to support this), and it's excellent value - $160 for a 4" dual core phone. $300 would get me a Huawei G510, but that's a decent amount more money for not much more than a larger screen.

So... with a bit of searching I came across the Huawei G700, which seems to be a very new release. I've copied the specs below - I've found it for just over $300 ($NZ) including free shipping on Amazon (from a Chinese supplier) here.

I'd welcome anyone's thoughts on this phone, especially its value for money (which seems great, from my view - ok resolution screen at 720, does 900MHz for 3G, decent amount of RAM and ROM etc... ).

Or, if there are any recommendations for other phones at a price point no higher (ie $300), that would be fantastic - even if they're non-mainstream Chinese models (ie, specific models people have purchased and have had good experiences with).
