Hi guys.

I plan on buying my mum a Smartphone for her birthday. She, has never used a smartphone and her current phone is about 10 years old. She doesn't know about technology, so I thought this was a good beginner.

Has anybody had any experiences with these? Good/bad?

It has a 3.5" screen, is it resistive or capacitive?

Thanks

I have not used the Smart Mini, it will be fairly average I would have thought. It will be capacitive, but probably quite slow.
I think they are SIM locked to Vodafone also, no problems if she is already with Vodafone.

You should check out the Lumia520, I have seen it on special for under $200. Windows Phone, should be pretty good.

I got one for my dad as he was also unsure whether he wanted a smartphone. To put it nicely I would suggest to spend a bit more and get something decent. The Smart Mini will probably put her off smartphones. $90 sounds cheap but it was money down the drain as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed, you get what you pay for really. From personal experience, you would be much better off spending a bit more and going for one of the lower end Samsung models.

Something else to note with the smart mini is the volume doesn't go up very high, so probably not a good idea for older people.
