Gidday guys,

I am in the process of getting my wife's iPhone switched to Android (Nexus 5), and is it possible to share the apps I already purchased on my Android with her without paying for them all over again?

What is the best way of doing it?

I do have an Android tablet - as I am just using the same google account - there is no issue. She has her own Gmail address. I think I can also register my account on the phone - but I wondered if there is a clear instruction of doing this without she having my email account on her phone etc...

If you login to your Google account on her new Nexus 5 you will be able to download any of your previous purchases to the phone free of charge without any problems.

Configure her Android device with her account, etc as it was a personal one. Then add a second Google account (yours) and use that in the Play Store.

Keeping in mind that if your account is loaded, make sure you go into the sync settings and turn off Gmail sync for your account. As long as you're account is loaded, there's no way to stop access to your email, but you can stop it from automatically loading to the device.

Does that not stop the automatic updates for apps though?

I have wondered about this myself in the past?

Not sure that any of the synced items under each account have anything to do with automatic updates, to be honest.

All items should have sync turned off actually. Otherwise any contacts/calendar items/images etc are all going to be available on the other phone.

This is the most irritating thing on having a new Android device. As soon as you enter an account - which is needed to buy apps and track the device it will start downloading emails, contacts, calendar. You have to rush and turn everything off.

It should really give you an option to check/uncheck things BEFORE it starts doing it.

Anyway. Back on topic...
