Hi There!

Off for a weeks holiday, wondering on the best way to put a couple of the DVD's I own (Legally) so they play with no audio sync issues, onto one of my Android Tablets for my kids to amuse themselves on the plane?

I am relatively short on time so the simplest way with the least fuss would be awesome.

There are ways of doing it. None is legal in New Zealand because only music can be format shifted...

I agree. Always check out handbrake when dealing with safety

Hmm when I pulled the handbake on my car, the resulting output was all stuttery. I think I need to read more on the vehicles documentation so it's smoother.

Come on guys try and stay on topic, he's asking about DVD's on his android... Sheesh - for $88 you can pick up an external Samsung USB dvd drive that supports android. Have not tried it only seen it.

I tried pulling the handbrake in my car but ended up ripping out my tyres on some acid. It was quite a scary experience.

On a more serious note since it's almost 3am and I can't think up a crafty way of putting it, as you guys know I'm a bit of an opensource fanatic and found AcidRip awesome for transcoding my own "home movies" from DVD and BluRay to other file formats, I think it's *nix only however but Lifehacker also have a List of the top bits of software for doing this exact task.

I don't get it. Either we can talk about it or we can't. The "subtlety" (and I use that term very loosely) is not fooling anyone, so why not just speak plainly or not speak at all? Anything else is hypocritical really.

Since the OP is going on a family holiday, it's probably safe to say he has home videos on DVD that he'd like to take. If so, then that should be easy to give advice on. If not, then as our illustrious leader states, anything else is illegal in NZ.

It's a shame the OP isn't trying to convert his home movies, because I'd suggest AVS Converter for that.

if you are going to 'illegally' rip dvds, you might as well just download a good quality file from a certian bay full of pirates. It's probably quicker and less likely to mess up.
