So just received my brand new phone. Turn it on and this is the screen that greets me

I don't really want to send it back to Auckland, when I am in Christchurch and wait a week for a new phone, which means not having one at all.

Does anyone know of way I can fix this without farting around sending it back?

It's not a common way for the LCD to fail but we do see it from time to time - if a reboot of the phone doesn't fix it then it looks like an out of box failure so it will need to go back to where you brought it from for replacement.

God dam it. I really want this phone, it's a dam nice phone.

A few hard taps on the screen has it working, but then it goes back to not..working.

My impatience tells me to take up the great offer Vodafone have offered me, cancel the LG G2 and get the Note 3 on a Red plan.

My old LG p500 used to do this (must be something to do with LG phones)

But it would only do it for a couple of seconds as its turning on or something

Try holding down the power button to turn it off or something and then turn it back on? or remove the battery but i dont think you can

Its like tv static

Tried that, doesn't work.

Might a screen cable not connected correctly?

I had an LG Optimus that developed this issue after a few weeks. Send it back...

This is why I'm slightly puzzled that Google have stuck with LG for the Nexus handsets, they don't have the best reputation out there.

It's OH so tempting, I have managed to get it working for a few minutes here and there and had a little play with it. Really bloody nice phone. And the OIS for the camera is great, not to mention the field of view from the photos, absolutely hate how narrow it is on the S4.

Go back to the store where you bought it...

If they say you have to send it away, so be it. But folks you should really test these before leaving the store for any OOB failures.

I bought it from Einfotech in Auckland. I am in Christchurch. Would have been some effort to test it..

Has the digital switch over happened in CHCH already? might need to take it back for a freeview equipped one.
