Huh?

The only mention I see of Samsung in that article is comparing screen resolutions.

Looks like it will be a good phone, hopefully only around $300-350 if the telcos here pick it up.

I wonder if it will end up being sold in NZ; no word on this yet, I assume?

Having just been in the market for a good-value mid-range Android phone, I reckon this is an area where we are not that well-served (compared to the high- and low-cost ends of the market). Few quad-core phones cost less than $600, or, if they do, they're older models such as the S3 so are missing contemporary features like 4G.

I ended up ordering an Xperia SP (when will it arrive??!!), but would certainly have been interested in this model had it been available.

I'm confused what this has to do with Samsung, it's a Motorola product. Has the article been rewritten to remove a mistaken reference to it being a Samsung or something?

Don't be. I'm well aware of Fairfax's dire subediting on Stuff - the number of basic typos, spelling mistakes etc on this site are legend, in my opinion. I don't think this is anything more than an editing error by the individual who wrote the headline.

It still lists high end phones as having 1020p screens. Funny they say that cheap phones have a spec that is a year old, but this phone spec is already a year old as it is similar to the Nexus 4. Still, sounds like my kind of phone. Perfect screen size for me, good resolution and reasonable cpu/gpu and storage. That is a lot of spec for $350 or so. If it ends up being $350 or so. See the Nexus 5 for $350 US become $800 here.

It's going for 135 Pounds in the UK, which is encouraging for it being sold a good price here when it's released.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24913528

Stuff have updated the article now to remove the Samsung 'typo'..

Nice, hopefully we see it here officially from one of our carriers. Really like the look of it. I thought the Moto X looked great and this looks really similar. For that price it would massively undercut a lot of phones like the S3, Xperia SP and the vastly overpriced S4 mini.

I'd love to see the S4 mini drop in price. I have to agree its overprices when quite often you can get a full S4 for around the same money.

Looks like the perfect phone for my partner. I wanted the S4 mini for her, but it's just too expensive for what it is, IMHO.
