Pretty neat graphic showing what goes into an Android update and how many steps there are to it. Also how many jump off points there are for the upgrade getting canned.

Interesting thanks Paul, sort explains the time both manufacturers and telco's take in releasing new version.

What a waste of time and money. For no gain. Seriously someone should get things more streamlined, maybe do one process for an enitre line of products or something, instead of for each edition of each individual model.

But then i dont count the cash so do what they like!

Ha, I posted pretty much this in the "Why wont you try windows phone" thread earlier.

Each different model has different chips, each different chip needs a different driver, and then they all need testing.

that won't change either and a reason why it won't but Android still is the largest selling and offers a wide price range, this gives it Achilles heel but given its share of teh market are they wrong!

However how many actually update their phones anyway how many are just buying android as their CDMA doesn't work any more and still only use it for, perish the thought, phone calls and texting.

Of course its used a lot by those that dislike android to the point of being boring, I flash custom Roms so doesn't affect me and I have a phone that is easily customised to suit my needs.

good article thanks I'll finish reading it later on. I like the idea that Nokia is producing lower end phones I think Android manufacturers have shown it is a large market.
