Hi All
I have an S3 and have added 2 email accounts. One business one private. I wanted to be able was to see any emails coming in and reply if it is urgent with the replies being cc'd to the email account. It worked nicely till I reinstalled 4.1.2, after unrooting.
Now if I look at an email on the gadget pop does not download it to my office machine any longer. As I do not want IMAP I am not sure how I could fix the problem. I have added an exchange account at some stage though not sure if it has something to do with it?
Is anyone able to advise me on this?

Thanks

Your post is rather unclear. Would you mind rewriting it? You should say what email program you use, what you're trying to achieve, etc.

POP has the option of "do not delete from server". IMAP is a much better solution for email, I suggest you use it.

Have a look at K-9 email, I find it much better than stock, and it's free.

Hi, from your description you dont really provide sufficient info to allow us to assist. Maybe you could explain how you have configured the two accounts. Be aware that if you use POP/SMTP technology in the connection then when you open and reply to an email on your phone it can in no way reflect that read status or reply in you actual account, hence dont use POP for mobile devices.

You mention exchange, I presume your business account is such, if configured correctly it should work as you ask.

Hi All
I am using 4.1.2 stock email. I do not want IMAP as I have a large business clients file .pst file and syncing it would be to tedious. Well that is how it used to be when I tried it years ago. Business client files I would then export(.pst) when the job is finished and store with the client files.
Anyway I'll try to explain better;
I would like to be able to see(on my S3) what private or business emails are coming in(and if needed reply, with bc to the account). At the same time I would like to be able to download the mail (pop)to my outlook when back in my office.
It did work how it supposed to be some time ago.
On the S3 I have the private email-, the business email- and Exchange account. The last I had possibly setup for syncing the accounts? Though not sure.

First post gave you the answer, the setting "do not delete mail from server on download" or similar.

Outlook is weird and problematic, I've tried to fix up problems with a few peoples computers. I use IMAP, with clients such as Thunderbird, web mail, and K-9 mail, never had an issue. I host with fastmail.fm, just changed over, they work well.

You could keep your current email archive on your device in the pst format, and just have new email accessed via IMAP.

Yes that is a standard for my private mail(gmail). Still I cannot get it(pop) downloaded in Outlook after opening it on the S3.

Is outlook set to "do not download"? Sounds like outlook is downloading then deleting from the server.

This is EXACTLY what IMAP is good for. Your reluctance to use it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

As stated it appears you fear IMAP will want to DL remote PSTs to your device. Not so, it will only check the inbox. The server wont know of the external PSTs as all it sees/hosts is the main inbox.

Unless told otherwise.

Ok thanks. I will have a go with IMAP and see how I get on.
Enjoy your break, if you are still off work. I'm heading to the beach for ten days........
