Hi guys,

The father-in-law is profoundly deaf and has just lost his wife to a brain aneurism.  We are going thru heaps of paper writing everything out when we converse with him.  I’ve picked up a Nextbook, hoping we could use voice typing into a notepad so he can see what we’re saying – no need to save the notes, just want to display one sentence at a time so he can respond to us.

Works fine using Google search, but he is quite a technophobe so won’t want an ongoing account and won’t be connected to the web – just wants a voice note pad.

Problem is, I have no idea which app I should use to do this? Any suggestions would be welcome.

So, I’ve tried Writer app and it works a treat when online. But runs like a dog offline. Is this simply a function of processor speed?  Am I likely to find a device with enough grunt to do offline voice to text? Or am I pushing the proverbial uphill?
