I had my phone stolen in Fiji. The day after, I received a message from Vodafone saying the sim card had been changed. I have just been talking to someone who told me I could still trace it through my Google account or the Android Device Manager. I am not sure how to do this. I have replaced the phone and I dont want to mess up my new phone because it has the same phone number. Is there anyone who can point me in the right directions please. I would so love to catch the creep. Thanks in advance.

https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager is where you want to go, just login with your Google account :)

Vodafone would not have sent you the SMS, You must of enabled a feature on the handset if the SIM is changed to send out the SMS

let it go and claim on your travel insurance.

These people are professional thieves, and the cops over there simply don't care.

If you go looking for your phone you may end up in more trouble and loosing more than a phone.

My old work mate had the some thing happen. Is sucks, and it sucks more that you can still buy an S4 so wont get an insurance upgrade.

Can you remotely wipe your phone via Android Device Manager ? I've a feeling you need to have configured it before it gets stolen though. If you can wipe it from remote .. do it now! That phone has far more access to your life than you really want anyone else having.

Quick side question to others ... any way to make a phone utterly useless to a thief via remote wiping ? I think if you remotely wipe from ADM a factory reset is still possible which would make the phone worth $ to a thief.

Just make sure you have the correct phone selected :) there is a dropdown there with your Android devices.

I would highly recommend installing Cerebrus in the future. (Especially installing it as a hidden system app). It has far more features than Android Device Manager. E.g you can control it via txt message and it will automatically take photos with the front facing camera if they put the pin in wrong and email it to you.
