I really like this device and I hope to get my hands on one in the near future. My wife saw it and handled it on her recent trip to Huawei in China and loved it.

Thoughts?

I'm quite keen on this device too! Nice build quality, BIG battery, still 1080p which I consider an asset for the time being.

Some reviews here and here and here. Some nice images of the phone in that last one.

Hope this one does make it here, Huawei have built a compelling package. Not having to wake the device to use the fingerprint scanner is a big plus. The Anandtech hands-on is very good.

Cat6 LTE in the Mate 7 as well.

My wife is back in China(returning tomorrow) she had a good play with the Mate 7, loved it but they are not sure if it is coming to NZ, no immediate plans. She also had a good play with some other Tablets and phones, loved the Sapphire edition Ascend P7 and some others that she is not free to tell me about yet.

Hi KiwiNZ,

It's looking like the Mate7 will be landing here for sale in December. The exact date should be announced soon.
We've got them in the office now - can confirm, waking and unlocking with one tap on the fingerprint scanner is cool.
For anyone in Auckland there should be some you can get your hands on for a play in the next 2-3 weeks.
