Hi There!

Short of buying from the Samsung Site itself, is there a way to tell if buying a USB cable will support charging said device at it's full speed? I have had trouble with cheaper cables occasional not doing this, but can't see any obvious differences between them.

What charger are you using? It's normally the charger these days that shorts the pins rather than the cable.

$28 wow.

For that I'd want it to make me coffee and keep me warm in bed at night.

Ordered a ANKAR charger, one that has smarts to determine the max current to send to the device to charge it.

The Lightning equivalent is an even more ridiculous $59.

Really? I don't think that's how it works.

Sounds great! My understanding is that the quickest way to charge a device is to give it as much current as it wants. Simplistically, current is "pulled" rather than "pushed".

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

I guess the charger could be (somehow?) signalling to the device to pull more current than with a regular charger but I don't know how that would work. I've never had any problem getting my Galaxy to charge at full speed, but I understand things could be different for Apple? Maybe it's related to that?

Yikes, not sure where my reply went. I use these ones, charges over a laptop USB port too (albeit slowly);

Correct. We have 3 X galaxy tabs in the house (gen 1 and 2) - I assume the newer ones are the same.

I use these cables with a mix of 1A, 2A and 2.3A (think that's the Samsung one) and they charge at full speed (no little red X on the battery icon). Obviously charging with 1A takes longer.

I've got one of these. Best charger so far on the market.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a special cable to charge Samsung devices at full speed from it.
