Well the Z3 series has only been out for a very short time but rumours about the follow up Z4 series has already started. Sony appears to be continuing with the "2x flagships a year" release cycle, with the Z4 series of products said to be possibly announced at CES in January 2015, but will probably be more likely to be at MWC in March 2015 as that fits more with the 6 month cycle (Z3 announced Sept 2013).

It is rumored the Z4 series will include a Z4, a Z4 compact, a Z4 ultra, and a Z4 Tablet.

They may all be powered by a 64bit Snapdragon 810 Octacore (big.LITTLE configuration), Adreno 430 graphics, 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard with microSD expansion, Qi wireless charging instead of the magnetic dock, improved camera with a focus on 4K that doesn't cause the device to overheat, improved lowlight performance, and removal of the USB port flap while still maintaining IP68 rating (similar to how the S5 mini has an open USB port but is still water proof). Also rumoured is a redesign with smaller bezels while keeping the dual front facing speakers.

Z4 Compact - 4.6" 1080p
Z4 - 5.5" QHD
Z4 Ultra - 6.4" QHD
Z4 Tablet - 10.1", rumor is it is being tested with a UHD 4K screen, but will likely only come with a QHD screen

If these turn out to be remotely true, there will be a couple of device here I will be getting. So anyone else really excited about any of these?

The problem with six-month release cycles is that it's hard to make a big enough difference over the previous model. Also, 1080p on the compact will just hurt battery life (while not providing much benefit) unless Sont has some fancy tricks.

I've heard the 6 month release cycle works in Japan which seems to be Sonys largest market so they will probably continue to release devices this frequently until other markets becomes more successful.

I'm pretty interested in the Z4/Z4 Ultra, for sure. The Z4 specs, at least as rumoured, are quite a leap over the Z3.

I think I read somewhere that from Z4 onwards Sony is going to change to a 12 month release rather than as they are only going to focus on Z series.
Z4/Z4 ultra for me.

im still wanting the z2 phone price to drop down a bit more so I can use a z2 magnetic dock with both phone and tablet.  those docks are pretty cool, wish more phones had them

Those Z4 specs are brutal

There was a rumor a couple months back that Sony will abandon the 6 month cycle.

while the previous 6 monthly releases haven't had major differences, if the Z4 specs are true they would be the biggest upgrade from one generation to the next. e.g. Doubling of RAM, 32bit to 64bit, quad core to Octocore, doubling of standard storage option, removal of waterproof flaps, resolution increases, Qi wireless etc. I would also prefer 1080p on the Compact over 720p, I'm one of those people who can at times see pixelation of text on a 450ppi screen, so the 320ppi screen on the Z3 Compact isn't sharp enough for me. I also think dropping the 6 monthly cycle and moving to a 12 month one would probably be a good idea.

Since I was going to get the Z3 after the Z1, but ended up with a Z2 due to an insurance claim (bent my Z1 at work), I'm up for the Z4 in a heartbeat!!!
