I have an LG g2, and I can't change the robot female voice on google navigation. I've Installed google TTS and have installed other voices but navigation ignores it and uses the same old voice.

Anyone got any ideas?

Settings, Language and input, Text to Speech output. There you select the voice to use. I use Ivona Text to Speech HQ.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Keep trying. Also check Accessibility for Tet-to-speech options.

Did all of that. Repeated. Rebooted and it appeared to work. Then maps when all schitzo on my saying half in the robotic american and half in the nicer voice.

Repeated. Rebooted and it seems to have stuck.

That was a Samsung S4. Have also experienced it on a Nexus 4 and a couple of older HTCs. Yep. Seems crazy, but go and google and there are LOTS of people who have had similar problems.

I haven't changed the voice that navigation uses, but has anyone else noticed that the default female voice changes sometimes from robotic (most of the time) to quite nice (only some of the time).  I've got no idea what triggers the change.

Is your data enabled?
I have not used it for a while but for me it used to do terse robot lady if I was offline and much more verbose natural voice if I enabled data?

I noticed that when you set your system language to English (US) the voice in maps ignores whatever you set in the TTS options.

If you set your system language to English (UK) it should also make the voice better..

Hmm, my language is currently set to "English (New Zealand)". Seemed like the right choice at the time!
