I'd noticed towards the end of last week that battery usage on my Nexus 5 was worse then usual. I'd been away with work but then when I got home on Friday night and Saturday morning noticed my internet at home was becoming unusable. Looking at my connection showed my phone was maxing out my 2Mbps upstream on cable sending data.

After a lot of time looking at things I noticed the Google account was showing some items were failing to sync and presumably stuck in a constant loop that was generating 2Mbps of traffic. Google+ uploads and Sound Search for Google play were both failing, and disabling these solved the issue.

I mentioned this to ajobbins who had also noticed poor battery life on his Nexus 5 and he too had issues with sync on his Google account with failed items.

Has anybody else noticed any of these issues?

There was a recent google play services update, have you received that? I have had similar issues back on 4.4 which resulted in a similar issue

I'm running stock 5.0.1 on my HTC One and I'm seeing fairly significant improvement in battery usage (as in 30~45min more screen on time)
